On the ‘easier’ route (which is still graded D+ or Difficile +), there is a rapid & steep altitude gain along the Elephant’s trunk. During the climb you’ll cross a little wooden bridge: this really tests the metal as you’re high over a void!
On the ‘difficult’ route (graded ED, Extremement Difficile), you will spend time in the part of the eye of the ‘Elephant’s Head’ - Not for the faint of heart...

Between the villages of Samoens & Sixt Fer a Cheval (the horse-shoe), this via ferrata takes you high above both to enjoy the valley panorama. You can park at the Gorge des Tignes & you’ll start & finish from here. The trip should take about half a day.
